Biography

Paul Henderson was elected as the Member for Wanguri in August 1999 in a by-election following the departure of Labor’s John Bailey.

He became Chief Minister of the Northern Territory in November 2007.

Paul was born in Croix Chapeau, France, while his father was serving in the American Armed Forces. With his wife Stacey he has 3 children.

Since starting his working career Paul has been employed in a vast range of jobs, starting from his days as an Apprentice Marine Fitter through to working for Territory Health Services as a Computer Support Manager in charge of a team of IT people.

Paul enjoys time at home with his family and running his three children around to various sporting activities.

As well as being Chief Minister Paul is also Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services, Minister for Major Projects and Trade, Minister for Climate Change, Minister for Territory-Federal Relations and Statehood, Minister for Information, Communications and Technology Policy and Minister for Multicultural Affairs.

Electorate Profile - Wanguri
Outer northern suburbs of Darwin north of Vanderlin Drive and east of Trower Road. It includes the suburbs of Wanguri and Leanyer and covers 8 sq.km. The electorate takes its name from the suburb of Wanguri, which in turn derives its name from a local aboriginal tribe. (ABC elections website)
