Chansey Paech

A strong desire to see as many opportunities for remote and Central Australians as the rest of us led Chansey Paech on a path to politics.

Born and bred in Alice Springs, Chansey is a proud Eastern Arrernte and Gurindji man who holds community, his Western Desert Country and family close to his heart.

Chansey first entered local politics in 2012, elected to the Alice Springs Town Council where he spent three years advocating for his community, young people and local business whilst making sure that grassroots voices had an impact on Council decisions.

He brings the same values and principles to his role as the Member for Gwoja in the Northern Territory Parliament. Chansey is committed to listening to all Central Australians - whether they live in a small outstation, a community, or in town.

He is focused on making sure their views and voices are heard and that people have a genuine say in the decisions that affect their lives.

Chansey has been an active member of Territory Labor since his teens. He believes the NT ALP can build for the future by investing in its people to deliver a stronger Territory.

Outside of work and family life, Chansey plays soccer and is a passionate Richmond Tigers supporter. He enjoys the arts, and in his spare time enjoys gardening, reading, horse-riding and getting out bush and soaking up the spectacular Central Australian landscapes.
